Following an interview with CEO, Bob Blair, Ms. Cregger wrote of his
inspiration for the beginnings of the farm in 2003 through to the
record harvest of 65 tons in 2009. Covering his work history in
disaster assistance to the start of the non-profit foundation, she
writes on the milestones the Farm has reached.
The Farm itself plants and harvests about 30 acres (with a possible 10 acres re-planted during the growing season) and produced 65 tons of fresh nutritious vegetables. In 2009, the Volunteer Farm of Zepp has produced 300 lbs of meat that has been sent to the food banks for distribution.
"Recently the Volunteer Farm has taken on a project to help thoe in Haiti suffering after the earthquake," Ms. Cregger writes. Volunteers and donations are being gathered to send as relief effort to help with area orphanages. Jeanne Jackson, Volunteer Coordinator, said "Becuase of the rough roads, four-wheel-drive vehicles must be used so we're sending two people at a time right now. On February 5, Chuck Seal, farm managers at the Zepp Farm and Eric Kramer, RMH emergency room doctor, will go to Haiti to begin evaluating the orphanges.
She also writes, "Haiti is just another part of Blair's journey to help the world until further notice."
